In 2021, I was invited to take part in Object & Thing’s landmark exhibition at the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture in New York. This unique collaboration brought together contemporary artists, designers, and craftspeople in dialogue with the rhythms of farming, food, and nature.
For me, it was a perfect setting. My steam-bent trugs, shaped using traditional boat-building techniques, were displayed in conversation with the cycles of the land — echoing the themes of field to fork, sustainability, and mindful living.
The exhibition reflected the values at the heart of my practice: biophilic design, slow craft, heritage techniques, and functional sculpture. Just as Stone Barns connects people to the origins of their food, I seek to connect people to the origins of their objects — reminding us that making, like farming, is an act of care, continuity, and quiet devotion.
